A racing oval is designed to keep motion moving. L’Hivernale borrows that promise for a very different kind of journey: six nights in Siena, translated into a room that seems to gather momentum as you explore it. Here, the page is more than a container for images and information. Its curves, pacing and changing perspective become part of the story.

The design draws on the language of the track without turning the experience into a sporting spectacle. Instead, it uses a banked scrolling path to shape how the room is encountered—guiding the eye through atmosphere, craft and detail, then revealing how the pieces belong together. The result feels less like browsing a catalogue and more like making a considered lap, with each pass offering another way to notice the work.
For readers interested in how digital design can borrow from architecture, movement and place, this case study follows the thinking behind that approach. It traces the choices that make the layout feel fluid, the practical challenges of building it for the web, and the small decisions that keep the experience grounded. One unexpected constraint changed how the team thought about the curve—and that’s where the full story begins.
